Welcome to 3DT’s class page!
Our teacher is Miss Topham, and we are supported by Miss Nazmin and Mrs Thompson.
Our topic this half term is Vicious Vikings and we will be answering key questions such as ‘What did the Vikings eat?’ and ‘What is an invasion?’ We are very excited about our upcoming trip to Jorvik and DIG in York! If your child has not given you a letter about this trip, please let one of us know.
In Maths we are learning to add and subtract 3 digit numbers using formal written methods. Soon we will be moving on to multiplication and division. We are also learning our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. It is important that the children practise these every week so that they can answer questions quickly and accurately.
Our text for the half term is The Red Prince by Charles Jubb and Tom Clohosy Cole. So far, we have learnt to make accurate predictions using clues from the text. Then, we used pictures to sequence the story and described them using expanded noun phrases. We had lots of fun using drama to think about the Red Prince’s thoughts and feelings. All of our learning will help us to create some fantastic pieces of writing at the end of the term.
We would like to remind you that school shoes should be completely black and tights/socks should be black, white or grey. Year 3 PE is on Wednesday afternoons. Please ensure your child has the correct kit and pumps in school.
Homework will be set on Fridays and should be returned by the following Wednesday. House points will be awarded for good effort and for returning homework on time!
Daily reading is part of homework, and is essential in order for reading to improve. Please read with your child (and sign their reading record) every night. If you have any questions about home reading, let us know.
If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to us after school.
